A Russian cargo ship has sucessfully docked at the International Space Station, delivering supplies for its crew of five.
The vessel delivered 2.5 metric tons (2.75 US tons) of fuel, oxygen, food, water and other suplies. The shipment also includes scientific equipment and care packages for the crew.

A Russian cargo ship delivered food, water, fuel and other supplies to the International Space Station on Friday, space officials said.
Along with vital supplies, the vessels cargo included mail and videos for the current crew of five; two Russians, two Americans and a Japanese astronaut.
The Progress M-04M docked automatically with the orbital station after a two-day trip up from Earth, Russian Mission Control spokesman Valery Lyndin said.

A Russian rocket blasted off from a cosmodrome in Kazakhstan lighting up the frigid Central Asian steppe Monday, shuttling an American, a Russian and a Japanese to the International Space Station.
The Soyuz TMA-17’s three astronauts will take the orbiting laboratory’s permanent crew to five following the early-hours launch, the first-ever blastoff of a Soyuz rocket on a winter night.

Two rare Siberian tigers were among a group of big cats in a Russian traveling circus that died during a 20-hour truck journey this week, a circus administrator said Thursday.
Circus officials and police initially said that eight Bengal tigers had died.
Veterinarians suspect the animals were suffocated by exhaust fumes in the enclosed truck, which was heated to counter outside temperatures below minus-30 degrees Fahrenheit (Celsius).

Turkmenistan agreed Tuesday to resume gas exports to Russia after an eight month stoppage that strained relations and raised questions on Moscows sway in the energy-rich state, officials said.

President Dmitry Medvedev Friday opened a major Russian-owned hydroelectric plant in Tajikistan and was to attend a regional summit as Moscow seeks to firm its influence in the region.
The ceremony 200 kilometres (120 miles) south of the Tajik capital Dushanbe was accompanied by Tajik folk singing and came as Russia and the United States compete for influence in Central Asia, Moscows former Soviet backyard.

A Russian cargo ship, launched Friday from the Baikonur space station in Kazakhstan, docked Wednesday with the International Space Station, the Russian news agency Interfax said.
The Progress M-67 cargo ship is carrying 2.5 tonnes of freight: fuel, scientific equipment, water, gas, and packages from NASA, the US space agency.
